An accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant took place unexpectedly for the whole world 35 years ago. Fukushima exploded just as suddenly 10 years ago, preceded by an unforeseen earthquake and tsunami. Six months ago, almost the entire world was shaken by a coronavirus pandemic that affected the lives of billions of people. The speed of appearance of various scientific and technological achievements, the computerization of all spheres of everyday life, the extraordinary comfort of everyday life \u2014 this supposedly progressive and majestic time, unfortunately, is not a safeguard against a large number of unpleasant surprises. And it is possible that this time is their catalyst. We live today “between” and “in” two paradigms of change \u2014 the positive and negative consequences of our development and progress. In changes that improve and worsen our lives at the same time. Is there a similar correlation between all the changes? What can each of us do, what should we remember and what should be followed in our actions to avoid unwanted consequences? Triennial The 4th Block invites to understand and analyze the considerable number of changes that have happened to us in recent decades, not from the negative point of view, but try to expand the areas of personal responsibility, think about what humanity should do, and each of us as part of it, to make the utopia of a better life a reality, and to avoid changes for which we will not be prepared.

35 years ago the word \u201cChernobyl\u201d was forever engraved into the subconscious of several generations as a disturbing fog of uncertainty. Ten years ago Fukushima reminded humanity again about the red line, that shouldn\u2019t be crossed, about the vulnerability of our civilization. This nomination is dedicated to another Chernobyl and Fukushima anniversary, to the non-nuclear future world, to the development of renewable energy, to the survival problems of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Global ecological problems are solved by joint efforts of states from all continents. But success of their decisions depends from each of us. The aim of the nomination is to help us feel our involvement in the world community, to realize our personal responsibility for the future of our civilization. It includes such topics as reasonable self-restraint, strengthening of the mental health, optimal usage of plastic, sorting waste and relatable questions in the Ecology field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Total isolation is one of the consequences of the appearance the new virus. Our home became a permanent place to stay, the agitational world reached its peak, because the Internet has become the only channel of contact with the outside world. In addition to the global problems of weak economies and health care systems, quarantine has identified a large number of hidden threats, among other things, related to the total presence in cyberspace.Within this nomination, we propose to consider a number of issues raised by isolation, to review the impact of the Internet on the lives of people of different generations and their socialisation. It considers the smallest members of our society and their dependance from the new technologies and as a result missing on developing skills in real life, as well as adults who are loosing the same skills due to virtualisation of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first higher educational institution for artists who work with industrial objects in Ukraine was created in Kharkiv in 1921. Kharkiv became the capital of Ukrainian avant-garde. Vasily Yermilov, Boris Kosarev, Adolf Strakhov and other outstanding artists closely associated with the institute worked here. Today the art-industrial institute is called Kharkiv state academy of design and arts, which commonly called Hudprom. The Academy has always been a home to the triennial \u201c4Th Block\u201d during all its years of existence. Triennial takes place and develops thanks to the efforts of teachers and students of the Academy. Stars of graphic design such as Alain le Quernec, Alex Jordan, Sang-Su An, Lyuba Lukova, Majid Abbasi, Nicklaus Troxler, Kari Piippo and other jury members of the International triennial held lectures and workshops here.
